The twister demolished 40 homes and heavily damaged 50 to 75 more, according to the Elk City Fire Department.
The National Weather Service confirms a tornado damaged an area east of Springfield early Friday.
One person is believed to be dead and dozens of homes completely flattened after the twister hit land.
Portions of western and north Arkansas face a slight risk for severe weather Friday, meaning short-lived, isolated storms could be capable of producing one or two tornadoes and wind damage.

Barron County had declared a state of emergency and Walker told reporters that he had declared Barron, Rusk and Jackson counties. Power poles were blown down and large trees were uprooted. More than two dozen people were injured as the tornado felled trees and tossed cars and trailers about.
Little damage has been reported after a storm churned up several weak, short-lived tornadoes in central Kansas. Those over 18 years of age can volunteer to help clean up the tornado-ravaged mobile home park near Chetek.
Sheriff's dispatchers say they're too busy to provide details.
Martin also says several turkey barns in the area were hit hard. "The tornado traveled easterly through the county, touching down in several places".
Scattered tornadoes have been reported in the nation's midsection.
Two people died in Wisconsin and Oklahoma after severe storms ravaged the Central United States Tuesday.
Large hail and winds up to 70 miles per hour are also possible as part of the storms, meteorologists said.
