Moving forward, there will be only one mandatory cut-down from 90 to 53 after the conclusion of the preseason.
But there will be many more acceptable options to choose from after the National Football League approved three general categories of celebrations: using the ball as a prop; going to the ground; and group celebrations. That will allow for longer review on players through the entirety of a team's four preseason games.
The NFL game may be best served by rolling back the 2012 modification in which the league changed regular-season overtime from sudden death to occasionally prolonged death.
If any of these can make their way into the NFL this season it will be worth the price for however you're consuming the league.

Research suggests the number of games that will go into overtime and end up tied will climb slightly. But demonstrations that are deemed offensive, that delay the game or are directed at opponents are still prohibited.
Still, there is a fair amount of gray area within the new guidelines.
Owners have cut the overtime period from 15 to 10 minutes for all games following concerns from coaches who felt too many players were exhausted and risking injuries at the end of the extra period. Under the new rule, two players per season are eligible to return to practice if they have been on IR for at least six weeks. Imagine a Super Bowl ending in a tie.
