Those above Rs 100 will continue to attract 28 per cent GST.
The Council on Sunday also reduced the tax rate for 66 items under GST. Besides, children's picture, colouring drawing books have been exempt from GST, as against the 12 per cent proposed earlier, while the levy on kajal has been cut to 18 per cent from 28 per cent.
The council also slashed rate on computer printers to 18 per cent from 28 per cent. He also requested the rate of tax for the fireworks industry be reduced from the current 28%.
The GST Council has so far fixed tax rates of more than 1,211 goods and 500 services in various sectors in the country.
The jewellery industry got much-awaited relief from the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council on Sunday, which in its 16th meeting reduced the applicable tax rate on jewellery making charges from 18% decided earlier to 5%.

The Council has widened the scope of a concessional tax payment scheme for small businesses and restaurants. "If this (composition scheme) is implemented at the appropriate manner, this can lead to greater revenue", he said.
