Philadelphia and Boston completed their trade of draft picks on Monday, the 76ers acquiring the No. 1 pick from the Celtics and netting the chance to draft Washington guard Markelle Fultz. Fultz, the talented guard out of Washington who has always been the presumptive No. 1 pick in the draft, worked out for the Sixers on Saturday instead of a previously scheduled meeting with the Celtics.
Fultz averaged 23.2 points, 5.9 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals over 25 games last season for the University of Washington Huskies, who went 9-22. That first round pick will be either the 2019 Kings selection or the 2019 Sixers selection, whichever one is the higher pick, with one very important protection.
Fox, like UCLA's Ball, has refused to work out for the Celtics, both players citing their overloaded point guard situation as the reason.
After the news came out, some Celtics fan took to Instagram to burn his pre-bought Markelle Fultz Celtics jersey.
Fultz already got the opportunity to meet a few faces on the 76ers' team. Ball still seems to be the team's preferred choice, but with Paul George all but declaring that he wants to be a Laker after next season, will Magic Johnson and crew try to bring him out West a year early? Although I would hate to see the National Basketball Association continue to breed these "superteams", it would still be nice to see some change in the Finals come next postseason (s). They still have four second-round picks to address in the draft. Jahlil Okafor could also play as 2015's third overall pick.
First of all, the Sixers didn't have to part with any players now on the roster.
