And to ensure exclusivity, no more than 300 examples will be created, each assembled at SVO's Technical Centre in Coventry and costing from £149,995. The 5.0-liter supercharged V8 under its hood puts out 592 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
But see Project 8 in its aluminum and carbon-fiber skin, and it seems nearly unbelievable; it's a track-focused all-wheel-drive sedan that makes 592 hp, can crack 0-60 miles per hour in 3.3 seconds and is good for 200 miles per hour.
SVO went the extra length with customization options for the Project 8, and the best example for it comes in the form of no less than 10,000 exterior paint colors.
What's the maddest Jaguar ever made?
The ride height is adjustable by 0.6 inch on stiffer springs and uprated, continuously variable dampers, and there are new billet-machined knuckles, adjustable upper control arms for customizable camber settings, and the rear subframe is solidly mounted to maximize chassis responsiveness.
Because it's being built in such small numbers, Jaguar has been able to fit expensive parts aimed specifically at improving track performance. This XE Project 8 marks the second collector's edition by SVO, following in the footsteps of the special F-Type Project 7 from 2014. And they're not just there for show: In addition to these aerodynamic tweaks, the Project 8 has a reprofiled trunk floor to help make the rear diffuser more effective, and the angle of attack of that giant carbon fiber rear wing can be made more aggressive for track work.
THE most powerful, agile and extreme performance road vehicle ever produced by Jaguar, the 200mph XE SV Project 8 sedan, has been revealed by the brand.
The Project 8 debuts Jaguar's new carbon ceramic braking package and an industry-first application of Formula 1-style silicone nitride wheel bearings. On that note, the auto also has a dedicated Track Mode that configures the aerodynamics, steering, throttle, drivetrain and stability control systems for circuit use. Carbon-ceramic brakes are standard, but at 400mm front and 396mm rear they're larger than the existing hardware optionally available on F-types. For North America the Project 8 can only be had with a four-seat arrangement with buckets up front - but in other markets the track pack can get rid of the rear ones altogether and also comes with full-on racing harnesses for driver and co-pilot.
The Track Pack version is 12.2kg lighter and also includes a "harness retention hoop" (in essence, a half rollcage) and a fire extinguisher system. No price has been announced for the USA versions, but in the United Kingdom this strictly limited edition, ultra-performance Jaguar sedan will cost the equivalent of $192,000.
