Several members of the jury of seven men and five women looked exhausted as they filed into court around 9:20pm to be dismissed for the night.
Jurors began their second day of deliberations by reviewing more than a dozen passages from a deposition Cosby gave more than a decade ago.
During their full day of deliberations Tuesday, the jury grappled with nettlesome unresolved questions at the heart of the sexual-assault case. On Monday, he urged the jury to reject the idea that Constand's sexual encounter with Cosby had been consensual.
Jurors asked for testimony about a detective's interview with Cosby in early 2005. Cosby declined to testify in his own defense, and his attorneys only called one witness.
Cosby has pleaded not guilty to the felony charge, and has claimed that in 2004, he and Constand had a consensual sexual encounter. Numerous other women's cases against Cosby can no longer be heard as the statute of limitations for prosecution has run out, Constand's case being the only one leading to a criminal charge. "He's been upbeat", she said, adding, "Knowing Mr. Cosby is to know there is always that sense of laughter, and I was grateful to see his spirit hadn't been broken as a result of this process".
"Your friends", Cosby said he told her. Constand testified last week that Cosby gave her pills, helped her to a couch and groped her without her permission while she was passed out, unable to stop him.
Constand denied there was any romance between them and told jurors she had rebuffed his advances before the assault. She said she got up to leave and found Cosby in the kitchen. "Her eyes were...all over and she was anxious", he said.
"I'm going to have to just cross that bridge when I come to it".
Cosby lowered and shook his head in the courtroom as she spoke.
He highlighted inconsistencies from Constand, who initially gave different dates for the alleged assault and varied details about events before and after.
Pulliam has said that she will accept the outcome of the trial, which is now in the hands of the jury, but she could not say whether a guilty verdict would change her opinion of Cosby. Cosby, his lawyer said, never ran from talking to police, for better or worse. Hotel rooms are sold out for miles. In a transcript read in court, the comedian said, "I never meant to have sexual intercourse with Andrea". That it couldn't have been assault if she had an orgasm. Often times in cases involving sexual assault, the prosecution does not have physical evidence.
He said he was content with the "petting" and touching the two had taken part in; on one occasion, when he was kissing her breasts, she said stop and he immediately complied. The investigation initially was undertaken by former District Attorney Bruce L. Castor Jr., who in February 2005 determined there was insufficient and unreliable evidence to prosecute Cosby, who was 67 at the time.
"They've been intimate", he said.
Cosby later told police the pills were Benadryl, an over-the-counter cold and allergy medicine.
In the civil deposition, Cosby admitted that he had previously obtained prescriptions for Quaaludes, a powerful sedative, with the intention of giving the drugs to women with whom he wanted to have sex.
On Friday, he took to the steps to float the idea that Cosby might testify when the defense case opened on Monday.
"A 30-year consecutive sentence would be a life sentence", she said.
Constand initially settled the case with a civil suit in 2006, having waited a year to report the alleged assault to the police.
The panel has also been reviewing Cosby's deposition testimony.
The trial started on June 5.
