Amazon is a public company founded by Jeff Bezos, who does not own a majority share of the company. "EVEN TV!" is being pointed to as the impetus for Trump's new Twitter rage against the Washington Post and Amazon.
While it's unclear what the "internet tax" the President is referring to, Amazon does indeed collect sales taxes on items it sells on its platform.
The Washington Post reported on Tuesday that a made-up cover of Time Magazine featuring Trump has been hanging on the walls at five of his properties.
With respect to an "internet tax", states and localities can't levy taxes on access to the web. He accused the daily of not paying internet taxes.
President Donald Trump resurfaced his complaints against Amazon this morning in a tweet targeting the Washington Post's coverage of his administration.
Amazon declined to comment on Trump's tweet.
Amazon has actually thrown its support behind various bills to require online retailers to collect all the different sales taxes. During the campaign, Trump threatened Amazon, saying "if I become president, oh, do they have problems".
"... Amazon, which through its ownership, controls the Washington Post should be paying massive taxes but it's not paying, and it's a very unfair playing field and you see what that's happening and what that's doing to department stores all over the country", Trump said.
On Wednesday, his target of scorn was Amazon and its corporate cousin, the Washington Post.
A Google search of "Guardian of Amazon" conducted right after the tweet went out found no reference to that phrase, but did find articles in the newspaper "The Guardian" about Amazon.
