These functionaries are party's secretary general K C Tyagi, former party president Sharad Yadav and party's Bihar unit chief Bashishth Narayan Singh.
Kumar has already cancelled his trip to New Delhi where he was expected to hold a national executive meeting of his party. The senior BJP leader also thanked him for his extending support to BJP's presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind. However, Nitish has postponed it to August 19. Many saw it as a clear warning to the RJD that Nitish would not think twice before stepping down if Lalu's party stays rigid on its stand of not asking Tejashwi to quit.
JD (U) functionaries claimed the executing meeting was postponed in view of the vice-presidential election scheduled for August 5.
Bihar's ruling coalition partner's assertion came after Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav dismissed the resignation of his son Tejashwi Yadav. The raids followed an FIR lodged by the central agency in connection with alleged transfer of three acres of land to the family by a hotelier in lieu of getting contracts for running two IRCTC hotels when Lalu was railway minister from 2004 to 2009. "It is the RJD that has been making it a political issue", he said. "We hope good sense would prevail and RJD would take a wise decision to end the JD (U)'s worries", Tyagi told TOI.
"Tejashwi should have at least met Nitish Kumar, who is his boss, to present facts in his defence and tried to convince the CM".
Next 48 hours for Bihar deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav.
They rushed to the opposition leader's chamber to greet the BJP leaders, before standing in the queue to vote. "We continue to be part of the opposition".
Water resources minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh and parliamentary affairs minister Shravan Kumar, both of the JD (U), also reached the assembly campus early, apparently to keep a watch on activities of the party legislators.
Observers said that "the question here is that who among the two will blink first, and in the current scenario it seems that Lalu Yadav will take a final call on the issue to save the alliance in Bihar".
The party leaders said the Congress and other senior leaders from within the alliance have started coming forward to mediate between Mr Kumar and Mr Lalu Yadav.
