IIFA Awards 2017: Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt win top awards

NEW YORK-In a city that never sleeps, the Metlife Stadium came alive with the IIFA Awards celebration here on Saturday night, with Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt becoming proud winners of the Best Actor trophies for their remarkable work in "Udta Punjab". On-screen character Jim Sarbh won the Best Performance in a Negative part for his motion picture.

All three of them were emotional about winning the award for a film which let mainstream performers take up something risky.

IIFA Awards 2017: Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt win top awards

Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput has made it big in Bollywood in only a few years and was recently was seen at the IIFA Awards 2017.

Udta Punjab didn't just stop with bagging the Best Actor and Actress awards, Diljit Dosanjh was awarded with the title of Best Debutant and also, Kanika Kapoor was the Best Singer in the female category for crooning songs in the film.

Anupam Kher won the award for Best Actor in Supporting Role (Male) for his performance in M.S. Dhoni: An Untold Story while Shabana Azmi bagged the Best Actor in Supporting Role (Female) for her performance in Neerja. Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury got the award for Best Director for his film Pink.

Tapsee Pannu was named IIFA Woman Of The Year.
