Ty Cobb, a veteran Washington lawyer, is joining President Donald Trump's legal team to coordinate the response to the expanding investigation into possible Trump campaign collusion with Russia's election interference, reflecting a growing sense among West Wing officials that the president's private lawyer, Marc E. Kasowitz, can not handle the job alone.
As the White House ends another week engulfed in controversy, a former aide who served under President Barack Obama threw a rhetorical jab at the Trump administration on Friday.
Cobb, a partner at Hogan Lovells who focuses on white collar crime, will serve as a special counsel to the White House, the administration confirmed Saturday.
In May, Trump hired attorney Marc Kasowitz to head the team of outside lawyers helping him with the Russian Federation probes.
It was revealed recently that Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of Trump, met a Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign after being promised "damaging" information about Hilary Clinton, the Democratic presidential candidate running against his father. He'll also work not only with Kasowitz's team but with outside lawyers hired by others in Trump's inner circle.
"Yes, he does, and I know Mr. Kasowitz has issued an apology in that matter", Spicer said before moving on. If you doubt it, take a look at who comes immediately after him in the line of succession: Secretary of State Rex "Russian Order of Friendship" Tillerson. "Watch your back, bitch".
