Aside from appointing Mauricio Pellegrino as their manager, the club have signed Jan Bednarek and Mario Lemina.
Chelsea hope to beat Liverpool to the signing of Virgil van Dijk if Southampton agree to cash-in on the £60m defender as Antonio Conte looks to bring in three players before the end of the month, according to the Telegraph.
And the arrival of centre-back Wesley Hoedt from Lazio on Tuesday had some fans questioning Van Dijk's future, but Southampton insist the new recruit will partner Van Dijk, not replace him.
The Reds have been chasing the Southampton centre-back all summer but could a move now be imminent?
He began his career at his hometown club AZ Alkmaar before moving to Lazio in 2015 where he made over 60 appearances. "Having procured a Champions League finalist from one Italian club we have now added an Italian Supercoppa victor from another".
"Will that have a direct impact on Van Dijk?"
Upon the deal being announced, Reed pointedly outlined the club's stance that Van Dijk will not be allowed to leave despite handing in a transfer request and being banished from first-team training.
"I'm really happy to be here", Hoedt told the official Southampton website.
"We believe [Wesley] can develop even further here at Southampton, alongside his worldwide teammate Virgil van Dijk, as well as the likes of Jack Stephens, Maya Yoshida, Jan Bednarek and Florin Gardos".
"I want to play European football again, and challenge for major honours, and as such I would like Southampton to consider the interest in me from top clubs should it still exist".
