Manchester United legend and former captain Roy Keane has backed his old to returning to winning ways and once more compete for major honours at home and overseas after witnessing another strong performance to kick off 2017/18.
And the Old Trafford legend says he has seen enough from their displays at home and overseas this season to tell him Jose Mourinho's side are capable of winning the biggest prizes.
"Over the previous year or two, they might win a League Cup or so-called lesser trophy". This said, they are yet to face any of the five teams who finishes above them in the table last season.
United's first goal arrived at four minutes in a play that started and finished by Lukaku. Since arriving at Old Trafford, Lukaku has averaged one goal per 90 with a shot accuracy of 70%, and is the league's top goalscorer alongside Alvaro Morata and Sergio Aguero.
And Keane believes the £75million it took to land him from Everton was an absolute bargain, and has tipped the 24-year-old to continue his rise to superstardom with the Red Devils.
"He's a big, strong boy and he speaks well and comes across well and seems like a decent character".
This is a United team that had solidity fused with a sprinkling of magic and that is what all the great Mourinho sides have had over the course of his remarkable career, that has seen him win the most important of trophies for Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
"The big tests for Lukaku will come in the big games", he said.
All of the plans he had made had been ruined, not just by the errors committed by CSKA Moscow's ageing defence, but by the sheer speed of United's play.
"The big test will be in the big games".
United return to Premier League action on Saturday at home to bottom club Crystal Palace, who were beaten 5-0 by title rivals Manchester City last week.
