The parents of Reeva Steenkamp, the model shot dead by Oscar Pistorius, expressed outrage Monday over an upcoming USA film about how the Paralympic athlete gunned down their daughter.
Lifetime has released the trailer for the new Oscar Pistorius movie set to premiere in November.
The Pretoria News could not get hold of the Pistorius family for comment, but had it on good authority that they too were seeking a legal opinion regarding the movie. "In fact, they never even knew until now that a movie had been made".
There are also scenes of fighting between Pistorius and Reeva, played by Toni Garrn, and the beauty getting ready to leave in a haste, telling her lover "I am done".
The Steenkamp statement reads: "They are horrified and upset to read a report that "the movie is told from Steenkamp and her mother's perspective". Any impression that is created that this is her view or endorsed by the Steenkamp family, is factually incorrect", the statement read. The movie is based on South Africa's double-amputee Olympic champion Oscar Pistorius.
The film is set to premiere in the U.S. on November 11, but, in Mzansi the release date has yet to be confirmed. There is no information as yet as to when the movie will air in South Africa.
Blade Runner Killer was made entirely in the USA, stars South African actor Andreas Damm as Pistorius and German model, Toni Garrn as Steenkamp.
The one minute trailer which was recently released by Entertainment Weekly has left South Africans furious.
He is now sentenced to six years in prison but may receive a harsher punishment after an upcoming hearing which will take place just days before the release of the Lifetime film.
