Last time met: A 40-17 loss to Arizona on December 20, 2015, at Lincoln Financial Field. That was also the Sam Bradford, Eagles. The Cardinals are a team that thrives on the big play through the air, and they are going to need lots of them due to their 32nd ranked rushing attack.
Arizona possesses its own Carson (Palmer) at quarterback and a No. 1 receiver (Larry Fitzgerald) who tends to give the Eagles - and just about everybody else in the league - trouble.
KEYS TO THE GAME: Offensively, the Cardinals will continue to have to rely on Carson Palmer and the passing game because they just haven't been able to establish any sort of a rushing attack since losing star running back David Johnson in a Week 1 loss at Detroit. This should leave more targets for Nelson Agholor and Torrey Smith.
Not only will Philadelphia miss his production on the field, but they will miss his leadership off the field as well.
Wentz threw three touchdown passes but was picked off twice. Robinson, who has played outside most of his career, needs to keep Fitzgerald in check. "When I woke up on draft morning, I saw that the Ravens had signed (veteran free agent) Sam Adams". Fitzgerald's 26 receptions are tied with Eagles tight end Zach Ertz for third in the NFL.
The two teams have played 119 games in total with the Cardinals holding a 59-55-5 advantage in the rivalry. Not coincidentally, the Cardinals are 5-2 in those meetings. Unfortunately, no one has really stepped up as the Cardinals come into this Sunday's matchup with the league's 22 worst scoring offense.
"We're staying on the field, and then out third-down conversion rate has been good", Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said. Elliott has made six straight field goals and is 7-for-10 on the season.
The Cardinals defense remained strong against the run and sacked Brian Hoyer three times with seven stops in the backfield.
Eagles: Blount, Wendell Smallwood and Corey Clement have all found their niches. And that offensive line is solid.
He's questionable to play Sunday, but receiver John Brown has also fared well against Philly.
"They have a lot of weapons on the outside and Carson's still making all of the throws", defensive end Chris Long said. The picks came when he was sacked eight times in the first two games. Safety Malcolm Jenkins leads with 30 tackles. Brown played 99 snaps against San Francisco, which is significant in that he suffered a torn ACL last November.
Simon recorded 270 tackles and 32 sacks during his five seasons with the Eagles from 2000-04.
Eagles: Doug Pederson is no longer getting criticized.
Arians served as Roethlisberger's offensive coordinator in Pittsburgh from 2007 to 2011 and was the offensive coordinator/interim head coach for the Indianapolis Colts in 2012, Luck's rookie year. And that doesn't even include the 2009 NFC Championship Game, when Fitzgerald hauled in nine catches for 152 yards and three touchdowns to bury the Eagles.
The difference this week There is at least one notable difference between the Cardinals and the Eagles' last two opponents.
"Only a few teams seem to know exactly who they are right now, which is odd given they've been practicing together since May". A normal Cardinals offense would salivate at the thought, since its deep-ball can be fearsome, but without adequate pass protection it will be hard to connect.
