Apple pushed aside the traditional 3D Touch Home button which unlocked smartphones through fingerprint scans and chose to opt for a more futuristic face scanning software.

Apple has reportedly started working on a foldable iPhone with LG Display, not Samsung Display - the sole OLED supplier - possibly due to concerns over tech leaks to its archrival Samsung Electronics. Meanwhile reports out of Korea also state that LG Innotek is creating flexible circuit boards to go with these displays.
South Korean conglomerate Samsung raked in around Dollars 4 billion more in revenue from Apple iPhone X parts that it manufactures.
Although this is all just rumors and should be taken with the appropriate amount of salt, it makes sense that Apple would use LG rather than Samsung, as that could help break Samsung's OLED monopoly.
LG Display has been toiling away on its foldable OLED panel prototype, completing it about 3 years ago and upgrading yield rate and durability in the time since then. Now Apple is seen moving to LG with foldable panels. As of now, Samsung is expected to continue supplying OLED panels for at least one more year.
Apple is considering investing in the E6 plant in a push for LG to beef up OLED production. It wouldn't be the first time we saw Apple take something someone else invented and flawless it to an extent where we actually think that it is an innovation.
