After staying silent for days following Hurricane Maria's utter devastation of Puerto Rico, Donald Trump's initial instinct was to blame the island for its problems, remind the USA territory that it owes Wall Street a lot of money, and attack the Mayor of San Juan for stating, factually, that more aid was necessary.
Last week, Mr Trump suggested the government debt accumulated by Puerto Rico would have to be wiped out to help it recover from the natural disaster.
"Trump's criticism of Puerto Rico's recovery effort isn't new - he tweeted on September 30, ".Such poor leadership ability by the Mayor of San Juan, and others in Puerto Rico, who are not able to get their workers to help.
Attkisson is a conservative journalist who has repeatedly defended Trump.
"We will not rest, however, until the people of Puerto Rico are safe", Trump continued.
Assemblyman Marcos Crespo, co-chair of the Empire State Relief and Recovery Effort, said, "The goods and supplies that were successfully delivered to Puerto Rico from New York State will provide critical assistance to the people of the island as they get back on their feet following Hurricane Maria. All donations will go to the Massachusetts United for Puerto Rico Fund, a collaborative effort between The Boston Foundation, Alliance for Puerto Rico, and the Puerto Rican community in Massachusetts. The government can't keep federal aid there "forever", Trump said Thursday. "And we will be there every day until that happens".
This shipment is the latest in a long line of efforts by NY to help Puerto Rico in their time of need. This will help the island stabilize its finances, prevent an even greater outmigration to the mainland and unleash Puerto Rico's full economic potential and capacity in a sustainable way.
"Sixteen people versus in the thousands", Trump said.
Two: Trump is a white supremacist.
