The initial report about the slayings - violence against multiple people found at trailers belonging to related residents - recalled details from a still-unsolved homicide case that rattled rural southern OH past year.
The sheriff says deputies spotted Lawson driving around 12:30 a.m. Thursday but lost him when he crashed and ran into woods in Ironton, about 110 miles (177 kilometers) south of Columbus.
Authorities investigating three fatal shootings and a stabbing in southern OH canceled a missing-child alert for an 8-year-old boy but continued searching Thursday for a man they called a "person of interest". The wounded person was later flown to a hospital in Huntington, West Virginia. They found the child dead around 9 a.m. Thursday in the house trailer, in an unincorporated area near Pedro, Ohio.
The Lawrence County sheriff's office and the state attorney general's office wouldn't immediately confirm Thursday whether Devin Holston was found safe.
Deputies say they are also searching for Aaron Lawson, 23, as a person of interest in the case. The vehicle crashed into a ditch, and Lawson took off on foot into dense woods.
Hours earlier, three adults were found dead at an Elizabeth Township trailer.
The stabbing victim and the slain adults have not publicly been identified.
Lawson is being described as a person of interest in the crimes by the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office. The Lawrence County Sheriff says Devin lived at the residence and had not been seen.
Authorities say three people have been fatally shot, a fourth person stabbed and an 7-year-old boy is missing in southeast Ohio.
Anybody with information is asked to call the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office at 740-532-3525.
Police had issued missing persons bulletins for the boy, Devin William Andrew Holston, prior to the discovery of his body, which had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. After an extensive search of the area that included surrounding houses and woods, Holston was officially entered into the National Crime Information Center as a missing endangered child.
