The Michigan mother sent to jail after refusing to comply with a court order to vaccinate her 9-year old son has more legal woes.
Rebecca Bredow was released from jail on Wednesday after serving six days for failing to get her son vaccinated and was outraged her son received the jabs while she was behind bars. "It's been a rough few days to say the least". The judge also granted temporary custody to Horne and ordered the boy to be vaccinated.
The specific reason that Bredow was in contempt of court is that she had consented to have her son vaccinated in court pleadings late past year, although Vitale says that those pleadings were filed "in error", according to USA Today. While his ex-wife was in jail, he followed the court order and had his son receive the first round of vaccines.
Less than one week on, the Detroit mother says it's been the "worst five days" of her life, compounded by the news her son had been immunised.
McDonald issued Bredow with the jail sentence for contempt of court. Only California, Mississippi and West Virginia do not allow for nonmedical exemptions. While Bredow was in jail, Horne took his son to the doctor to get vaccinated. "Your attorney signed that order", she added at the time of sentencing. He said of his client, "She's devastated" but does not regret her decision to not vaccinate.
Her ex-husband, who wanted his son vaccinated, went to the judge after Bredow would not vaccinate the boy. She told the Press that being in jail was "horrific" but "I still stand by my choices because I stand up for what I believe in".
Bredow said it was "against her beliefs" to vaccinate her children.
Do you think all states should require vaccinations with only medical vaccinations?
