Isa Hackett, a producer on Man in the High Castle, has come forward with new details about a sexual-harassment allegation investigated internally at Amazon. "Accordingly, we looked closely at this specific concern and addressed it directly with those involved".
On Thursday, actress Rose McGowan posted a series of tweets aimed at Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, claiming that the show she sold to Amazon Studios was killed after she told an Amazon Studios head that Weinstein had raped her. McGowan added that, after that incident, she attempted to buy back a script she says she previously sold to Amazon.
As more and more women come forward with stories of Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein's decades-long sexual harassment, accusations against other powerful men in the industry are starting to surface.
In August, it was revealed that Price was under independent investigation after Hackett filed a complaint with the company immediately following the alleged incident.
Amid the Weinstein sexual harassment cases first reported by the New York Times, the question was asked whether or not this was just the tip of the iceberg.
While Weinstein was sacked from his company Weinstein Co., Amazon has two series being produced by the company, however their future is not known.
The claims compound the problems for Amazon Studios, which has won critical acclaim for some productions but has struggled to make TV shows that capture the popular imagination like Netflix's "House of Cards" and "Stranger Things".
"Once in the cab, Hackett says Price repeatedly and insistently propositioned her", the Reporter relates. Albert Cheng, a former ABC executive who joined Amazon's video group two years ago, will be the interim head of the unit. "We are reviewing our options for the projects we have with The Weinstein Company".
But other ambitious projects have fizzled, with "Z: The Beginning of Everything" and "The Last Tycoon" each canceled after a single season.
