Earlier, Jio had launched its affordable feature phone in India at Rs 1,500 will be refunded after 3 years and last week Karbonn, partnering with Airtel launched its 4G smartphone A40 Indian at Rs 1,399. The phone is a direct competition to the Reliance JioPhone with such kind of specs and price.
This phone comes with multiple content option from Micromax Entertainment comprising of Live TV, Music, Movies and Videos. The phone comes with unlimited calling & unlimited data offer from BSNL at Rs. 97 per month.
Referred to as the "pataka phone" by Micromax, the Bharat 1 attempts to compete against the Reliance JioPhone with its offerings.
The handset will be available across India at retail outlets starting October 20 onwards.
Bharat 1 won't be confined to BSNL's network, The mobile can be used on any system, which implies a client can put an Airtel SIM or other network into the gadget. Three years down the line, the Bharat-1 will cost customers Rs. 5,692, while the Jio Phone cost them Rs. 6,008 during the same period.
In the future, Vodafone and Idea Cellular are also slated to come with their respective affordable feature phones and smartphones. Apart from this, the phone also supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS, and a microUSB 2.0 port. The device also comes with the UPI app for digital payment.
Other features on the Bharat-1 include music/video player, FM Radio, Alphanumeric keypad, torchlight, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, internet browsing, ringtones, phone contact and much more. "We will now take this vision forward with "Bharat 1" and create a compelling proposition for the users that is a first in the category", said Rahul Sharma, co-founder, Micromax, in a statement.
Both Micromax and BSNL will work collaboratively to introduce the best consumer mobile experience, the company said. Both Micromax and BSNL have been working with an aim to bring the next wave of unconnected users on the Internet. Data affordability, connectivity and ease of using technology are the three barriers for the users to get a connected experience.
