The court rejected the three applications filed by Sharif, Maryam and Safdar requesting suspension of the indictment.
Security is tight and a large number of party supporters along with lawyers have not been allowed entry into the premises so as to avoid any situation like the one that developed the last time Maryam and Safdar appeared before court.
Sharif's indictment came even though he and lead defence counsel Khawaja Haris Ahmed are both overseas.
According to the charge sheet, Maryam Nawaz was the sole beneficiary of Avenfield apartments in London and she submitted the forged documents with regard to trust deed of the London properties to the Panamagate JIT, using "Calibri font".
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had registered three cases of corruption and money laundering against Sharif, his family members and finance minister Ishaq Dar in the Islamabad Accountability Court after the Supreme Court disqualified Sharif, 67, as prime minister on July 28. Judge Muhammad Bashir adjourned the hearing soon after the proceedings began when the PML-N lawyers forced their way into the courtroom and surrounded the judge.
After the probe, the top court disqualified Sharif and ordered the NAB to investigate and conduct a trial.
The Accountability Court adjourned hearing of "Flagship investment" reference till tomorrow where charges will be framed against Nawaz Sharif.
