Idea Cellular's revenue from operations dropped 19.72 per cent to Rs 7,465.5 crore in the quarter under review.
Idea said that the broadband data usage (3G+4G) has almost doubled to 413 billion MB in the second quarter from 228.8 billion MB in the first quarter.
Idea said that it is on course to introduce its own VoLTE - "Voice over LTE" by early calendar year 2018.
Both Vodafone India and Idea as customers and ATC TIPL as a mobile network infrastructure provider have agreed to treat each other as long-term preferred partners, subject to existing arrangements. On consolidated basis, the company reported revenues of Rs 272.40 crore and net worth was Rs 175.80 crore. The merger, expected to be completed in 2018, is awaiting various approvals.
"In the event that the completion of the sale of the standalone tower businesses precedes the completion of the proposed merger of Vodafone India and Idea, Vodafone India will receive Rs 3,850 crore ($592 million) and Idea will receive Rs 4,000 crore ($615 million)", the joint statement said.
The assets include around 20,000 towers around India with a combined tenancy ratio of 1.65x at the end of June.
The incumbent operators have blamed competitive pressures triggered by the free and disruptive offers of Jio, for the financial stress in the sector.
Idea, India's No. 3 wireless carrier posted a loss of 11.07 billion rupees ($169.45 million) in the quarter ended September 30, compared with a profit of 915 million rupees a year earlier.
