A 24-year-old IL bartender last seen on Monday was found dead early Thursday, and authorities said she had been shot in the head, reports CBS Chicago. Investigators used "electronic means" to locate Kearn's vehicle, which led them to a residential property in Aroma Park Township, where they found the victim's 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the barn. Detectives say they believe she was the intended target and there is no threat to the community. She had been in a dating relationship with Boshears for the past two weeks. Boshears' bond was set at $250,000.
"It's an ongoing investigation and other charges are possible", said Will County State's Attorney Spokesman Charles Pelkie, who also confirmed the concealment charge.
Kearns was last seen about 1:30 a.m. Monday leaving her job at Woody's Bar, 1005 E. Washington St.in Joliet, the sheriff's office said. The clubhouse is down the street from Woody's.
Kearns' father, Kevin Kearns, reported his daughter missing on Tuesday when she failed to come home.
On Wednesday, Joliet detectives turned the search over to the Will County Sheriff's Department.
A media report said investigators towed Boshears' Dodge Charger from an alley next to the clubhouse.
Boshears' attorney, Neil Patel, said Boshear was being transported to the Jerome Combs Detention Center in Kankakee. "Further information will be provided when appropriate", the sheriff's office said in a statement.
A person of interest is in custody, but no charges have been filed.
"Sheriff's detectives continue to work this case in order to obtain enhanced charges".
