The Uber driver said she picked up a passenger at around 2 a.m. March 13, 2016, in Scottdale, Arizona, and was told the man was Winston. The Uber representative also stated that Kate would not be matched with the user again in the future, and the user's Uber account was canceled soon after she reported the incident. Myself and Jameis were in the backseat.
"I am confident that nothing inappropriate in nature happened in the auto that evening..."
"The accusations are just not true", Darby concluded. I was totally shocked, and I shook him off and just said, what's up with that? looking back I sincerely wish I would have kicked him out but he is apparently a big athlete in the nfl and he's very physically imposing, and I was afraid that I'd make him more angry. the rest of the ride proceeded without incident. "We take these matters seriously and are fully supportive of the investigation that is being conducted by the National Football League". Winston has denied the allegations, saying in a statement Friday that the "accusation is false". In the statement Clune released on Sunday, he reiterated his client's stance that the 23-year-old quarterback was alone in the vehicle with her during the Uber ride, a ride the female is claiming Winston "groped" her. She told BuzzFeed that Winston asked her to stop at a drive-thru restaurant during the ride, and while in line, the driver said Winston reached over and "grabbed" her crotch for three to five seconds, only removing his hand when she said something.
BuzzFeed viewed a letter sent to the victim from the NFL's special counsel Lisa Friel that stated "The League has been informed that you may have been the victim of such a violation perpetrated by Tampa Bay Buccaneers player Jameis Winston". Winston has denied the woman's claims.
The NFL has confirmed that it is investigating the Uber driver's charges.
This is not the first time Darby has seen his name attached to an incident involving Winston.
Darby apparently has come to Winston's defense before, according to ESPN.
