Although the company is mum on exactly which phone will be launched on the day, but one of these two - Redmi Note 5 and Redmi 5A - seem plausible. Xiaomi VP and India MD Manu Kumar Jain has teased the upcoming phone via twitter, naming it Desh ka phone. "This survey finding is also a testimony of customer's trust in their smartphone brands and at the same time it sends a message about what the customers expect from these companies in future", said Sandeep Budki, founder and editor, The Mobile Indian. While most of us speculated the product would be a smartphone, a tweet posted last week by the company's Vice President Manu Jain had made us a bit confused. The news was confirmed by Redmi India's Twitter page, which also used the same hashtag, #DeshKaSmartphone, to announce a new handset.
The smartphone will be manufactured in India and Xiaomi might add some India specific element to the smartphone.
The Redmi 5A runs MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat out of the box. It was launched in China last month at 599 Yuan, which is roughly around Rs. 5,884.
On the other hand, the Redmi 5A features a 5-inch 720p HD display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor.
