Gronkowski could be seen taking his chin straps off, then suddenly ran up and dove on White like a WWE wrestler, landing an elbow to the back of White's neck, causing White to roll around and then get taken off by medical personnel.
With less than five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, White managed to pick off a Tom Brady pass that was intended for Gronkowski.
"I didn't really see what happened on the whole play", Belichick said.
"Obviously, it didn't hurt the team there, but it definitely can in the future", Gronkowski said.
"He's not a dirty player, but if you do something like that to someone in the streets, you're going to jail", Harrison said. White was taken to the locker room with a head injury. He's tried to change his style of play a little bit, but I think he obviously gets grabbed and held all day long.
"Apology or not, it is a dirty play", Hyde said.
"It was unnecessary. I don't know what they're going to do for it, but it's not the game of football", Preston Brown said. "I just want to apologize (to White)". "And it's insane, like, what am I supposed to do?"
Dean Blandino, the former NFL senior vice president of officiating and FOX Sports analyst, said the league will need to review the play. "They are fans and they feel some type of way that I am on the Patriots, so it's all good".
"It's an emotional game and these are like spur of the moment things, they just happen", Brady says. "It was something that the officials handled today and we don't really have any control of it". White was making a lot of contact with the tight end, but wasn't flagged for holding or pass interference. White cradled the ball on the sidelines immediately after landing and seconds later, Gronkowski delivered a disgusting, unnecessary and cheap hit on the 22-year old, launching his massive 6-foot-7, 265-pound frame onto the defenseless cornerback. "(But) I plan on playing next season".
He had nine catches for 147 yards.
Even though he plays for the all-conquering New England Patriots, the rambunctious tight end is the exact opposite of the Patriots way in every way imaginable. White was helped off of the field and placed in the concussion protocol, but it didn't result in an ejection for Gronkowski.
