It's been more than ten years since Lamborghini unveiled the first Urus concept pictures.
Prices for the Urus start from £131,500, with the first deliveries taking place in Spring 2018.
The Urus comes with all the driving tech you'd expect in a luxury SUV as well, including level 2 autonomy and an long list of safety features.
"One Urus we played around with had a Vbox data logger in it, and using launch control I was able to pop off a 3.59-second 0-62 miles per hour run", he wrote, noting that Maurizio Reggiani, Lamborghini's director, managed a time of 3.43 seconds.
Urus has a 650 horsepower, 626 lb. ft. of torque between 2250-4500 rpm and 4.0 liter V8 twin-turbo engine. You also get adaptive air suspension and carbon ceramic brakes as standard.
With a length of 5.11 meters, the Lamborghini Urus surpasses the SUV coupe from Garching by about 21 centimeters.
Between 1986 and 1993, Lamborghini built a 4×4 soberly baptized LM002.
The four-door Urus, named after the wild ancestors of the Spanish fighting bull, is meant to be more practical and family friendly than Lamborghini's typical high-powered sports cars. The Urus will more than double the company's annual output of fewer than 3,500 units sold worldwide, according to Lamborghini.
Chief executive officer Stefano Domenicali has often said the Volkswagen Group-owned house is working to soften its tone from the racer-boy image of the past.
"We design experiences: Urus is one of them". Comparing the Urus with the Huracan Performante, the SUV comes very close to matching the sports vehicle.
Inside the Urus develops into a luxury sports auto, with three-spoke steering wheel incorporating a vibration damper to enhance comfort and multifunction controls including the Lamborghini Infotainment System (LIS), vehicle set-up, media, telephone and navigation. Last year Lamborghini sold a mere 188 units in China, compared with 303 in the United Kingdom, a market 90% smaller.
