The former vice president who was at the PDP National Secretariat yesterday on a courtesy visit on the Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, said their returning to PDP would make the party stronger.
Frank made this known in a statement saying many of those who earlier left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC have now realised that the ruling party is the worst place to be as it has no regards for laid down democratic tenets.
The shout of "Baba Oyoyo" rented the as the former Vice President was driven in a bullet-proof Mercedes Benz S-Class with registration number Lagos EX 449 SMK. "All those who left should return home like I did....we want to tell Nigerians that we have learnt from our mistakes", Atiku said.
"Over the years, like any or every human organisation, it has faced its challenges but I want to pay tribute to those who have stayed steadfast through thick and thin to see us through to this point".
"For any political party to survive as well as remain relevant there must be discipline and internal democracy that will give hope to aspirations of party members".
We believe his return will add value to the process of rebuilding our party to greater heights.
Mr. Makarfi said the party was expecting more "returnees" and assured them of equal opportunity.
"PDP did not extend any special concession to Atiku and the party will not extend any special concession to any other person".
"To achieve all these, there must be sacrifices, understanding and compromises in the process, and that is what I speak to members to imbibe".
He said Atiku returned in good time and urged him to continue to contribute in reinventing, remodeling of the party. We are not just targeting Aso Rock, we are targeting the federal legislature, the state, both the executive and legislature, and we are targeting the local governments.
"It is saddening but interesting the way politics is played out in Nigeria because here we are, people leaving the comfort zone of government and the corridors of power to the opposition party should signal danger to those leading the ruling party. As a united party we have the capacity and we have the ability to do so", Makarfi added. What we want are people who can help us win elections and Atiku is one of them.
