Shooting is due to resume next week.
Bryan Singer's replacement revealed after the director was sacked earlier this week. Yet Singer claimed in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter that he was sacked because Fox would not let him take care of a "gravely ill parent".
When Singer's firing was announced, it was reported that "Mr Robot" star Rami Malek, who stars as Mercury in the movie, had complained to the studio about the director's "unprofessionalism" - with the pair reportedly involved in a number of altercations.
'Bryan Singer is no longer the director of Bohemian Rhapsody, ' Twentieth Century Fox said in a statement.
Fletcher has previously directed Eddie the Eagle for Fox and Wild Bill.
Mercury wrote numerous hits for Queen, including "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Killer Queen", "Somebody to Love", "Don't Stop Me Now", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", and "We Are the Champions". Unfortunately, the studio was unwilling to accommodate me and terminated my services. Only two weeks of production remained when Singer was sacked when he failed to return to the London set of the film, which stars Mr. Robot's Rami Malek as Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. "This was not my decision and it was beyond my control".
But as Variety reports, a source claims Tom Hollander, who portrays Queen band manager Jim Beach, walked away as well because of Singer's behavior, but was convinced to return.
Singer also said there had been no confrontation between him and Malek, and that apart from creative differences, the two had put their differences aside and were working together harmoniously before the Thanksgiving holiday.
Last month, Singer shared a photo on his Instagram of Malek playing the late Queen frontman, captioning it: "Couldn't help myself and had to post this iPhone pic". That means Bohemian Rhapsody will hit theaters on December 25, 2018, as planned.
