"If they are to be free and fair, if it is a question of numbers, if it is a question of allowing people to make their choice, then I think the people of Kano are in my pocket".
The 75-year-old charismatic leader said he would continue to do his best to ensure that the country attained greater heights. "The people of Kano are aware of the tremendous jobs we did on security and agriculture", Buhari said.
"When I was the military head of state, I arrested many people and jailed them for alleged corruption".
Among the prospective APC chieftains believed to be waiting in the wings on Buhari's intentions are Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Senator Rabiu Kwankwanso and Governor Aminu Tambuwal, all of who have denied any presidential aspiration in the meantime.
He said, "From 1999 to 2014, the wealth of this country was lavishly squandered by those in the position of authority".
"Since I joined politics in 2003, I contested for president three times but I could not get it right until the fourth attempt in 2015. We will invest more in education and vocational training", he said. But in all that I did, I was making consultations with this Emirate Council.
The inmates including men and women were selected from the Kurmawa Central Prison, Kano.
"The support has been consistent, so I don't have words to express my appreciation to the people of Kano state".
He also commended Governor Ganduje for the completion and upgrade of the hospital.
"We have a number of projects that are on-going and we hope you will visit the state in near future in order to commission such projects", Ganduje said. "I'm highly impressed with what Governor Ganduje is doing in Kano".
The centre would soon be completed and put to use, he said.
