Juventus are planning to use Philippe Coutinho's massive £143 million move from Liverpool to Barcelona as the "benchmark" for any move related to Paulo Dybala, according to reports.
"I agree the £142 million fee is astronomical", Carragher continues, before saying that the sale of Coutinho in January "unnecessarily jeopardises Liverpool's Champions League place for next season" and if they miss out on Champions League qualification "everyone will point at Coutinho's sale" as the reason why.
Roberto is known for his flexibility and is fit for playing in the two positions which is something that Klopp is searching for.
"We don't have to replace him as such, we will still have 11 players". You lose a player, you buy a player.
"If we do something it needs to be the right decision", he said of potential signings.
"If the club said after the first call "good idea, we wanted to call you actually because we don't want to have him" then it would be different", he told reporters on Friday.
"I don't want to sound disrespectful, he was here for five years, we will miss him".
Much has been made of how Klopp will look to replace Coutinho but while Guardiola believes Barcelona have themselves a fine player he doesn't think the side he has left behind will be much the poorer for his absence.
West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady has suggested in The Sun that Liverpool should invest the money they have got from the sell of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona on new players. You need to show up. "No chance. He was not ready to do that anymore". But we tried everything [to keep Coutinho]. When we had this conversation around Phil Coutinho, I said the same - nothing to say - and I won't change that. "We will see, not only with Daniel, we will see what can happen in the transfer window". It is incredible to know that I am going to live with idols, players with a lot of history.
There will, however, be a Coutinho-shaped hole in Klopp's side when unbeaten Premier League leaders Manchester City visit Anfield on Sunday, as Liverpool prepare to take on the country's best team without their most influential player.
What they do, they do fantastic but the good thing is it's not completely unpredictable.
