Facebook-owned WhatsApp will soon be releasing an update, which supports the much-anticipated video calling feature in group chats.
According to reports, iOS beta version v2.18.21 has the UPI-based payment option, while WhatsApp Android running version v2.18.41 has this option reflecting for some users.
However, if you are not able to see the payment option, it is not a cause for concern as this update is only for selected beta users. Once you get the UPI number you can use WhatsApp payments. WhatsApp recently announced that it has reached 1.5 Billion active users and crossed 200 Million users in India as well. It appears that this is a server-based feature which will be gradually available to all the users. Aside from the difference in the interface, the version number with which you will be able to start making payments is a little different. WhatsApp has been working on UPI payments since past year as it was reported by many publications. Once WhatsApp Payments option is enabled for you, on clicking on it, there will be a list of banks. The payments will be through UPI (Unified Payments Interface) but for now, it is only showing the list of banks and also the bank account that is linked, but the account is not getting added. When implemented, it can become one of the easiest ways to send and receive money. From group calling, to blocking spam messages, the extremely popular app is always on the verge of cooking up a new feature that will make life a little bit easier for its users. But hey, we already said this is a beta test.
