A new capture the flag map to celebrate the four-week Lunar New Event is set in Thailand. Lunar New Year 2018 begins today and runs through March 5th.
Capture the Flag, called Capture the Rooster a year ago, is returning to Overwatch with a series of updates created to balance the game mode.
The next Overwatch event, the Lunar New Year celebration to usher in the Year of the Dog, is just around the corner, and game director Jeff Kaplan teased a few details on what gamers can expect from it. The map is "absolutely gorgeous" according to Kaplan, with one side featuring an ancient look and the other with a more modern design. Blizzard also launched a brand-new map specifically for Capture the Flag, called Ayutthaya. Should you decide to try and climb the ladder within competitive capture the flag, you stand the chance to earn a custom player icon and spray. The developer has also announced that they have introduced some changes to the game's mode where games will no longer end in a tie, and that games that do end in a tie at the end of the timer will enter into a sudden-death mode. The game resumes, with the distance that the flags need to travel shortened. This is similar to Lucioball in the Summer Games event a year ago, which also introduced the popular Cote D'Azur legendary skin of Widowmaker. "Picking up the flag is instant, but if you use certain abilities and these abilities are limited to things that either give you invulnerability or give you great mobility, those abilities will drop the flag".
The event will also introduce a bunch of new skins for characters, including six new legendary skins, some of which you can check out in the video above. But we know what you really want...
