Former Arsenal player, Emmanuel Petit, has revealed that Alexandre Lacazette will leave the club following manager Arsene Wenger's decision to sanction a club-record move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
But they are now back together again and even combined for Aubameyang's first ever Arsenal goal on his debut in the 5-1 mauling of Everton last weekend.
He said: 'For him, one against one with the keeper, he is a good goalscorer.
Arsenal fans have every right to be excited about Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang, who formed a lethal partership during their time at Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund. There was no sell-on, he got him to win the league, then he planned to retire. But Thierry came a bit more to the ball as well, participated more in the game.
Merson, though, believes that the signing of Aubameyang could prove to be Wenger's last throw of the dice.
"His target is to have an impact in the Premier League because he knows that, today, to be acknowledged as a top class striker, you have to do it in the Premier League".
"We know what a hard story Mkhitaryan had with Manchester United and Jose Mourinho, but nevertheless he chose football again", Arustamyan said. Wenger said. "His finishing is good, you don't score by coincidence for so many years".
Spurs had a number of chances to make the scoreline more comfortable but Petr Cech denied Kane, Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela and Kieran Trippier to keep the score at just one goal.
Aubameyang's goal record with Dortmund was exemplary but there were questions about his volatile personality.
"We understand each other on and off the pitch, that's why it's easier on the pitch". He's also clearly a weakling for preferring to play for Wenger over Jose Mourinho.
His future at the Emirates Stadium beyond the summer is uncertain, with the Frenchman having scored just once in his last 12 Premier League appearances.
