Currently, over 12,000 skills available for users in India, as the company claims, and it seems, Amazon is planning towards bringing more and more skills to the Echo devices in the days to come. No discounts are now being offered either, which means you will need to pay Rs.4,499 for the Echo Dot, Rs.9,999 for Echo, and Rs.14,999 for the Echo Plus smart speaker.
Coming to Echo Plus, the smart speaker also doubles as a smart hub, which makes it easier to connect to compatible smart home devices.
Notably, the Echo devices also feature an Alexa-to-Alexa calling and messaging feature. In addition, users can now also set up routines for Alexa to perform a series of actions from a single voice command.
Many of us already hear voice assistant technology like Amazon's Alexa and Google Home making life hands-free. Once you browse the skills on your phone or PC, all you have to do is simply ask Alexa on your Echo device to add the skill.
Back in October past year, Amazon launched its Echo, Echo Plus (review), and Echo Dot smart speakers in India, but instead of opting for an open sale route, the company chose to initially sell the speakers on an invite-only basis in the country. But, that's not the scenario any longer.
Starting today, you can purchase any of the Amazon smart speakers or devices across online and offline channels without the need for an invite.
In the three months since it made its debut in India, over 1,000 new localized skills have been added to Alexa. The e-commerce giant has confirmed that their entire Amazon Echo lineup will now be available in the offline market too. But now you can purchase them at amazon.in and over 350 retail outlets in the country including Croma, Reliance, Vijay Sales, Crossword, and more in 20 cities. It is to be noted that when these were launched, these were available at a discount along with bundled Amazon Prime membership.
