"The president of the United States in the past has been a beacon of freedom of the press", Todd told Mnuchin. "I know folks may be exhausted in the morning due to springing forward, so set those clocks and DVRs now before your eyes get too sleepy".
"I bring my kids up to respect the office of the presidency and the president", Todd told Washington, D.C.'s NBC News4. Even though Trump was in Western Pennsylvania to rally for Rick Saccone, the Republican candidate in the upcoming congressional special election, he revealed his own reelection slogan for 2020.
Responding to a question from Todd who asked Mnuchin what he would do if a member of his staff used such language, Mnuchin said: "Chuck, you know I've been with the president and at campaigns. So these are campaign rally issues". Still, "it creates a challenge to all parents when he uses vulgarities like that", he said. "I think you should be focused on the policies", he continued.
"So, should we stop covering the campaign rallies?"
"You should obviously carry them", Mnuchin said.
"I'll be with my kids this morning, and I'll be focused on them, on what the president is doing to protect the United States, its citizens, and more importantly its economy", Mnuchin replied. Todd was incredulous: "So you're saying that's acceptable behavior for the rest of the administration too, or it's just unique to him?" "I don't know why you are putting these words in what I'm trying to say". "Obviously, there were a lot of amusing moments at that rally".
"Yeah, they were hilarious", the host quipped sarcastically.
