The Browns aren't fooling around.
After 16 straight losses on the field, victory.
That would force the Giants to pick a quarterback, offensive lineman Quenton Nelson, defensive lineman Bradley Chubb or trade down. First they went for wide receiver Jarvis Landry, followed by quarterback Tyrod Taylor and finally defensive back Damarious Randall. ESPN reported that neither of the picks is in the first or second rounds. He took a $10 million dollar pay cut to stay with the team last season.
The Browns gave him more to think about. Here's to John Dorsey tonight!
About an hour later, Cleveland made another big move, trading for Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor.
None of this means the Browns will secure all of their top targets in free agency, though they certainly stand a better chance than they did before Dorsey's wheeling and dealing.
If the Los Angeles Rams' defense is as relentless in the upcoming season as the team's front office has been in reassembling it, the future could be bright.
Landry is as good as they get. "If it's the Browns, if it's the Giants or whoever, I'm going to come in with my head low and ready to work". McCarron might prefer to start for the longer term, while Taylor arrives with only one year left on his contract.
Brown did not have such experienced personnel people to advise him the last two years. He has topped 1,000 yards receiving in each of his four pro seasons, amassing 309 receptions for 4,579 yards and 32 touchdowns.
"Y'all better understand (stuff) about to get SERIOUS. ON MY MAMA", Landry tweeted.
Panthers general manager Marty Hurney began making over the position last season when he traded No. 1 receiver Kelvin Benjamin to Buffalo for a pair of draft picks. Smith had 36 catches for 430 yards and two touchdowns while starting 14 games in his first season in Philadelphia. Hyde's 2017 production underlines the degree to which Hyde had been out of position through much of his time in Green Bay. He was benched in the second half of a September 28 game against Chicago by coach Mike McCarthy, who sent him to the locker room. With the loss of cornerback Joe Haden prior to the 2017 season, Cleveland had a gaping hole at one of their corner spots.
There are also indications that Dealing Dorsey may not be finished. The trade now gives the Broncos about $35 million in salary cap space to pursue free agents, including quarterback Kirk Cousins.
