During his audition, Glaze revealed that he hadn't yet had his first kiss because "I can't kiss a girl without being in a relationship", but Idol judge Katy Perry made a decision to change that when she invited him closer to plant a surprise smooch on him.
While rendering her verdict (video of the entire incident here), Perry acknowledged his shaky performance was "a bit rushed, and maybe that was because I sped up your BPM of the heartbeat".
Katy Perry is in hot water for forcing a kiss on an American Idol contestant-and not just any kiss, but his first ever. "I wanted it to be special". Even fellow judge Luke Bryan called Holmes a "dreamboat". She and Richie urged him to practice more and "kiss a couple more girls" before auditioning again.
Instead, Perry landed an impromptu smooch on Glaze's lips when he was leaning in to kiss her on the cheek. "I wanted my first kiss to be special". He responded that he had never been in a relationship and never had his first kiss.
Katy Perry put her cherry chapstick on the lips of an American Idol contestant - and like it, he did not! "I have never been in a relationship, and I can't kiss a girl without being in a relationship", he explained.
Do YOU think Katy crossed the line by kissing the contestant?
Even though it aired earlier this week, the audition itself took place last October and this has given Mr. Blaze, who is now 20, some time to consider the event with perspective. "But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and I was uncomfortable immediately".
The kiss did result in his getting more screen time, which has helped draw attention to his music.
When he returned home, Mr. Glaze worked through his feelings about the kiss by talking to his friends.
Perry, 33, wasn't having that, insisting Glaze walk over to the judges' table - which he did, tentatively - so she could give him a smooch.
Oh, that's right - Katy Perry stole the first kiss of someone.
"They agreed with me that it didn't really count".
"It was lip contact versus a romantic situation with someone you care about", he said.
