"Ayushman Yojana is a game-changing health initiative, aimed at creating facilities to treat a host of communicable and non-communicable diseases, mainly in rural areas". The government plans to open 1.5 lakh health and wellness centres by 2022 to deliver comprehensive primary healthcare to communities.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the first health and wellness centre under the flagship Ayushman Bharat programme in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Saturday, an official said here.
The scheme, also known as National Health Protection Mission, provides insurance cover worth Rs 5 lakh per family per year for 10 crore poor and vulnerable families or approximately 50 crore beneficiaries. "Earlier, there were only 2 medical colleges but now there are 10 medical colleges", he said. He said there will be free dialysis facility for the poor of the state and doctors will be available 24 hours.
He also inaugurated a new rail line and a passenger train between Gudum and Bhanupratapur, bringing north Bastar region on railways' map.
The Prime Minister dedicated and laid foundation stones for the first phase of ambitious Bastar Net Project, roads and bridges constructed at a cost of Rs 1,043 crore under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna, a major bridge over River Indravati, a major bridge over River Darbha at Mingachal, Nal-Jal Yojna in Bijapur, 735 kms long roads constructed at a cost of Rs 658 crore and bank branches and ATMs in Bastar divisions.
This is also the Prime Minister's fourth visit to Chhattisgarh, where assembly elections are due later in the year. His visit to Chhattisgarh coincides with the birth anniversary of Dalit icon Dr B R Ambedkar. Another BJP Twitter explained that under PMGSY, more than 2700 KM roads will be built.
