Veteran Linebacker James Harrison Announces Retirement

Harrison previously announced his retirement four years ago, only to reverse that decision.

But after a controversial ending, James Harrison is calling it a career in Foxborough, and you can bet no Steelers fans will be attending his retirement party.

After playing one season with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2013, Harrison had called an end to his career but later returned to the Steelers in September 2014. He remained with the team for nine seasons, which included five Pro-Bowl appearances, two First-Team All-Pro selections, and the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award in 2008.

Harrison registered a team-record 80.5 sacks in 13-plus seasons with the Steelers, making five Pro Bowls, twice being named first-team all-pro and earning National Football League defensive player of the year honors in 2008.

Whether you still look at Harrison as a bigger villain than Le'Veon Bell, you have to acknowledge his time in Pittsburgh.

Harrison joined the Patriots in December 2017 for their playoff run, appearing in three regular season games and all three postseason games for New England. He finishes his career as the Steelers' all-time leader in sacks with 80.5.
