On Sunday, lawyer of the victim's family, Deepika Singh Rajawat, said that she fears she can be "raped or killed". The court also asked the state government to provide security to the lawyers of the family.
It said that it will only hear the persons related to the case. Speakers criticised the government's delay in responding to the incident - the usually voluble Prime Minister issued a statement only on 14 April - and sought to debunk theories that the Kathua rape should not be "communalised". The court directed that chargesheet copies should be provided to all accused, and posted the case to April 28, Ankur Sharma, counsel for accused, said.
The Court made it clear that it will not interfere with who is to investigate the case.
It also appeals for the strengthening of the security cover at the juvenile home that houses the minor accused and to prevent unauthorised individuals from meeting them. "We are not seeking transfer of investigation". "We don't think there is the conducive atmosphere in Kathua for the trial", said Ms Rajawat.
"Investigation is nearly complete". They (police) may file a supplementary charge sheet. April 15, (ANI): Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi on Sunday said the crimes like Unnao and Kathua rape cases were taking place as the slow pace of judicial system is not instilling any fear in the minds of culprits. "By taking swift and strict actions, please show that the Indian government's initial silence and delayed response to these horrific crimes against humanity are not a support of the accused because the accused have some or the other link with those in power", the group letter says.
Filmmaker Rahul Roy, who too participated in the protest, said: "As a country we have to hang our heads in shame for having failed the Constitution". I am the father. We are satisfied with a state police probe. Every accused has been identified.
Apart from the father's plea, another petition was filed by family's woman lawyer. A chargesheet was filed against the accused; the chargesheet indicated that the perpetrators had planned the rape and murder as a ploy to drive the Muslim tribe away from Kathua.
It had said it is a settled law that a lawyer who appears for a victim or accused can not be prevented by any bar association or group of lawyers, for it is his duty to appear in support of his client.
