The CBI has, however, refused to take the June 22 2017 medical report as well as alibi of the arrested BJP MLA as a "ploy" so far saying that the investigation was on and the agency was collecting evidences to reach conclusions in the case.

"The statement of the rape victim was recorded today (Monday) before the magistrate under Section 164 of CrPC", said a CBI Officer.

A special court in Lucknow sent Sengar, the prime accused in the case, to seven-day CBI custody, they said. Sashi is accused of taking the victim to Sengar after which the latter raped her.

Amid tight security, the CBI produced the Unnao rape case accused, BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, in the CBI court in Lucknow around 4pm on Saturday. The agency earlier got Sengar's medical examination done here. The victim had charged gangrape on her in her complaint.

After a massive public outrage over the inaction of the Uttar Pradesh police, the case was handed over to the CBI on 12 April. The woman had allegedly taken the victim to Sengar on the fateful day and stood guard outside the room while the heinous crime was allegedly committed by the MLA and others. It will probe three aspects of the case: the FIR lodged against the MLA under various Sections of the IPC, besides the cross-FIRs lodged after the April 3 clash between the survivor's family and MLA's brother Atul and his associates. The second FIR accused the MLA's brother and others of murdering the victim's father when he was in judicial custody. The third case pertains to the allegations against the victim's father, who was arrested under the Arms Act and put in jail by the police, where he died.

The victim and his family members had tried to commit suicide outside the residence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. According to the post-mortem examination report, he had suffered serious injuries. The CBI is all set to investigate the first case, registered on June 20, 2017 by UP Police, when the survivor first levelled the rape charge.
