"It's kind of a team where they will throw anyone on the ice against anyone and they're comfortable with any matchup they get".
Finally. It took longer than most of us expected, but we finally witnessed a complete 60-minute game from the Nashville Predators.
"I'm proud of this team - what they accomplished, how hard they worked all year, how coachable they were", Avs coach Jared Bednar said. It was at that point that the game was tipped totally in favor of the Predators.
Coach Peter Laviolette kept a cool head and this team has responded to him all season. The Predators are hitting their stride heading into the Winnipeg series.
The Predators won three of the five meetings and picked up seven of a possible 10 points in the season series, thanks to a shootout loss in the finale.
Pekka Rinne experienced ups and downs, yet he seems to be heating up lately. Hellebuyck had a 1.94 goals-against average in eliminating the Wild. But I think for him and what he's done with this team, a team that's been up and down. "We didn't give them any life".
"They're built a lot like our team".
The Avalanche offensive stars were held in check by last spring's Stanley Cup finalists.
The Predators came to win. His unassisted wrist shot just 38 seconds into the second period made the score, 3-0 and totally silenced the Colorado crowd. The other games in series were not easy as Nashville won Games 2 and 4 by a single goal.
"Furthermore, we have been and will continue to implement mobile entry for individual tickets purchased on Ticketmaster for games at Bell MTS Place".
There was some worry Nashville would start to get anxious at the potential of blowing a 3-1 series lead. "If we can bring that speed into the next round that will be good".
While the team searches for a new general manager, Brent Flahr, senior vice president of hockey operations, will serve as acting GM.
Things were bad for Colorado coming into the series, but it got much worse at the end of the series.
That caveat is necessary, as the Predators failed to close out their series with the Avalanche on Friday, with Colorado pushing it to a sixth game Sunday in Denver on the strength of some heroics from Andrew Hammond. "Definitely, it's a good team to be compared to".
That said, the Predators showed their higher gear during the last two games in particular, and Hammond could only steal one game for the Avs.
"It's disappointing to us and I'm sure it's disappointing to fans", Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog said.
