The Armenian Revolutionary Federation has issued a statement, announcing its withdrawal from the ruling coalition. Dashnaktsutyun says that a new political situation has shaped in the country, so the party believes that the current crisis needs to be resolved in the framework of the constitution and legislation only. Also, the President of Armenia spoke in detail about the history of the conflict, mistakes and shortcomings, the situation in the parliament and consultations that he is now holding with parliamentary coalitions.
Also, the party said that the National Assembly should elect a prime minister who enjoys the confidence of the people, and whose government will pursue the goal of "defusing political tension, overcoming the crisis, guaranteeing the solution of the accumulated problems and carrying out snap parliamentary elections in fully democratic conditions".
Tonight, at the initiative of the Armenian side, a telephone conversation took place between the President of Belarus and the President of Armenia. At a rally on April 17, the leader of the protest movement Nikol Pashinyan declared start of a "Velvet Revolution" in the republic. "He is not the acting Prime Minister and they are not authorized to comply with his instructions", Pashinyan was quoted by news.am. "The Republican Party is thinking about taking advantage of Serzh Sargsyan's resignation and wants to keep power", Pashinyan said in a video appeal posted on Facebook on April 24.
