But Jefferson Parish Coroner Gerry Cvitanovich said Monday that the post-mortem examination showed Robinson's death was "caused by the actions of another".
Though the family and the West Jefferson NAACP express gratitude to the coroner's office for its transparency, the Robinson family is frustrated, Hilliard said.
Lopinto identified the JPSO agents involved as white. Lopinto's predecessor Newell Normand said the cameras encourage "Monday-morning quarterbacking" of law enforcement decisions, in a 2015 interview explaining why he had not and would not support adding the equipment. The 22-year-old black man, who had a gun in the auto and was suspected of being in possession of heroin, was on the run from the police when he crashed his auto into two Sheriff's Office vehicle.
The attorney for the family of a black suspect who died after a struggle with white sheriff's deputies in suburban New Orleans says a march has been scheduled in his honor near the spot where the struggle happened. "And now they have to move on to making funeral arrangements for this 22-year-old, who should not have died".
More than 100 people - including Robinson's mother, Kiwanda Robinson, - took to the streets on Monday night to honor Robinson near the scene of his death in Metairie, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans.
"The reality of it is they were in a fight with this gentleman", Lopinto remarked.
Robinson's family has called for the investigation into the 22-year-old's death to be handled by an agency other than the local police.
"They were in a struggle, they used force, they admitted to using force, but I think the investigation will have to complete. I understand it fully", Lopinto said.
"We've been discussing body cameras for years", Lopinto said. "I don't want to delay disclosure regarding the direction in which we're heading from Mr. Robinson's family, the sheriff's department or the media", Cvitanovich said. "I knew he just didn't die because the ozone was high". "You do the crime, you do the time", she added. "He has not let me down yet and I don't feel like he will let me down now". "They're grieving, and today they had to find out that Keeven lost his life at the hands of another", she said, according WDSU.
"They're killing the children", Robinson's grandmother, Sheryl, told reporters.
She credited Lopinto and Cvitanovich for being open about the autopsy results and the investigation.
