Meghan Markle's father will not attend her wedding to Prince Harry this weekend, U.S. media reported Monday, as Kensington Palace pleaded for "understanding and respect" for the couple during a "difficult situation". Thomas Markle would walk his daughter down the aisle and her mother would drive with her daughter to the chapel.
As per reports, Thomas Markle was upset about the fact over the way his paparazzi photographs taken of him preparing for the wedding has been perceived and he made a decision to miss the wedding to avoid embarrassing his daughter or the Royal family.
Kensington Palace said when details of the cake were unveiled: "Prince Harry and Ms Markle have asked Ms Ptak to create a lemon elderflower cake to incorporate the bright flavours of spring".
The littlest royals - Prince George and Princess Charlotte - will be a part of the bridal party when their uncle, Prince Harry, marries American actress Meghan Markle on May 19.
Meghan is Doria's only child, and the two are known to have a close relationship, with Doria accompanying Meghan on the red carpet on many occasions and even attending the Invictus Games with Meghan and Harry past year.
"He was really having heart pains and suffered a heart attack", she said. And he would only attend if his health allowed it, he said.
"They [doctors] will go in and clear blockage, fix damage and put a stent where it is needed", Thomas told TMZ of the operation. It was not immediately possible to reach Thomas Markle for comment and it's not clear if he may change his plans again in the next few days. But if he did, I am going to assume it was a pittance - they don't pay that much.
"She's very close to her mother, though, isn't she?"
As for reports that the Queen was upset with him, Markle told the website: "I don't think the Queen is thinking about what I'm doing".
Harry and Markle have invited 600 guests to the wedding, which will be followed by a gala reception hosted by the queen.
"His girlfriend Meghan Markle has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment".
Kensington Palace announced Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will have six bridesmaids and four page boys, including George and Charlotte. "I hate the idea of missing one of the greatest moments in history and walking my daughter down the aisle", he said, adding, "Of course I'd walk her down the aisle".
