First is Group Description, which was in fact rolled out in March for Android and iOS and it lets users add a description for the group. With this new feature, we can clarify the objective and guidelines for the group chat.
The new WhatsApp update allows the admins of the group to restrict who can change the icon, description and subject of the group chat. With this feature, you can quickly search for participant members of a group by heading over to the Group Info section and tapping on the Search Icon (magnifying glass icon) above the list of participants. Admins can also remove admin permissions of other group participants, while group creators can no longer be removed from the group they started. WhatsApp users can now also use the new mentions feature in groups. For such a situation, instead of scrolling through the entire chat, WhatsApp's group catch up feature will let you check messages only pertaining to you/those that are directed to you.
The first change gives groups a brief description to help clarify the objective and guidelines for the group chat.
