This is the first foray by AWS (Amazon Web Services) into the blockchain ecosystem and is the first blockchain SaaS solution available on the AWS Marketplace and they say it will will help users rapidly advance their blockchain projects. This all-in-one Blockchain Business Cloud changes the economic equation of an enterprise blockchain project.
Patrons of the technology tout it as faster and more safe and secure than traditional methods.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced it will be forging a partnership to help users more easily plug into blockchain technology in association Kaleido. By offering a full solution way beyond do-it-yourself scripts or templates, Kaleido significantly speeds up development and deployment cycles and dramatically lowers operating costs. Last week Facebook announced that it is initiating a reorganization that is going to include a new Blockchain to address privacy concerns relating to the platform. "These private networks offer all the benefits of the underlying blockchain technology, while maintaining the necessary levels of security and performance", wrote Ale Flores, Senior Product Manager at AWS, in a blog post.
Hyperledger and R3 are examples of private blockchain solutions.
The Kaleido blockchain cloud was piloted in a bank in the Philippines. "By permanently anchoring the private chain to the public blockchain through the Kaleido Relay, a network of companies can further reduce risk of after-the-fact collusion going unnoticed". The anchoring will happen automatically at regular checkpoints, so that enterprises get better proof of confirmation over all the transactions. Many flavors of blockchain have evolved over the years as public and private blockchains have emerged.
The AWS Partner Network (APN) is a global partner programme, focused on helping thousands of partners build successful businesses or solutions on AWS Cloud.
"It will be the first blockchain software as a service (SaaS) and will be able to "[link] between private networks and the public Ethereum mainnet". They've (Amazon) been looking for partners to help get blockchain into their customers hands.
The move will let companies uninitiated in the cryptoverse quickly embrace the space's keystone tech, blockchain, with as little friction as possible.
The creator of the Ethereum blockchain platform, which is precisely what Kaleido and AWS will be using, stated this is the most significant move yet by the tech giant to move into Blockchain.
John Hurley, Ryanair's CTO, said: "Machine learning is hugely important to our growth, and we're pursuing a variety of AWS machine learning services, including Amazon SageMaker, to enhance customer UI experience and personalise the MyRyanair portal for every unique traveller".
"The Enterprise Ethereum Alliance is a large and vibrant community", said Ron Resnick, Executive Director, Enterprise Ethereum Alliance.
