Iran's foreign minister tweeted that the United States was repeating "the same wrong choices" after U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo demanded sweeping changes in the country's foreign and nuclear policies.
Pompeo said he wanted Iran to come to the table and sign a new "treaty" that would be approved by Congress, but he set out terms that Iran is unlikely to ever agree to. Iran would also have to walk away from core pillars of its foreign policy, including its involvement in Syria, Yemen, Lebanon and Afghanistan.
"The Iranian regime should know that this is just the beginning", Pompeo said. America did not create this need for changed behavior.
The agreement gives Iran sanction relief in exchange for limits on its nuclear activities.
The latest announcement, one Iranian official said on Monday, was proof the United States is seeking regime change in Tehran.

In hopes of saving the deal, the European Union has said it will invoke its so-called blocking statute to protect its companies doing business with Iran from USA sanctions.

Several major European companies expressed concern about continuing business with Iran following the U.S. exit, raising further doubts about the viability of the deal.

Trump announced the U.S.is withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal and imposing the "highest level" economic sanctions against Iran on May 8. The rest members of the plan criticized the Trump decision and said they would keep to the agreement.
