Under the terms of their membership, the Palestinians asked the court to investigate Israeli practices going back to June 2014, when they first accepted ICC jurisdiction.
The ICC has been conducting a probe since 2015 into alleged crimes in the disputed territories, including Israel's settlement policy and the 2014 Gaza conflict. Tuesday's referral could speed up a decision on whether to open a full-blown investigation, which could ultimately lead to the indictment of high-ranking Israelis.
The comments came a day after Palestinian foreign minister Riyad al-Maliki's arrived in the Netherlands, where he held talks with the the ICC's Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda in order to update her on the situation.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas accused Israel of carrying out "massacres" of unarmed civilians. "The use of lethal and other excessive force is a serious violation of global law, yet our efforts to challenge the policy from within Israel have been met with support for the status quo".
The latter has also routinely been threatened by the United States and Israel not to make any moves in the ICC.
Both the Israeli government and its US backers are under fire by human rights organizations and the worldwide legal community for the ongoing occupation as well as the killing of more than 60 people by IDF soldiers who opened fire on demonstrators in Gaza, also last Monday. Some 60 people were killed last Monday alone - in protests meant to coincide with the opening of the new U.S. Embassy. The Israeli military captured the territory in the 1967 Arab-Israeli War and claimed the territory is not occupied as it was captured from Jordan. But that position is not internationally recognized.
Following Oslo agreements of 1993, Palestinian Authority maintains a oretical exclusive control over so-called Area A - big cities and ir environment - which represents 18% of West Bank.
Referring to the push for an investigation, the MFA said: "It is ridiculous that the Palestinians do so while they continue inciting terror and using children and women as human shields in the guise of their violent attempts to harm the security of Israeli citizens".
Some of the protesters have burned tires, thrown firebombs or tried to break through the fence.
The ICC considers itself a court of last resort, authorised to take on cases when authorities are unable or unwilling to launch prosecutions. A delegation of prosecutors and magistrates traveled in October 2016 to Jewish state on an informative mission to avoid suspicion and to raise awareness of task of worldwide criminal justice. In 2004, the United Nations' highest judicial organ, the International Court of Justice, ruled in an advisory opinion that the settlements breached international law.
"Through judicial referral we want. the office of the prosecutor to open without delay an investigation into all crimes", he told journalists.
